Election 2024
3–5th July 2024, Westminster, London
In May 2024, standing in the pouring rain outside Number 10 Downing Street, Rishi Sunak called a surprise General Election. Very unusually, it was to be held in July. As the campaign progressed, it became clear that power was to change hands. The Labour Party — in opposition for 14 years — would take power. But few could predict quite how sweeping the landslide would be.
These pictures were taken over three days surrounding the election on 4th July 2024. The day before as Westminster prepared, through the night on Election Night as results came in, and the next day as Britain woke up to a new government for the first time in a decade and a half.
