I’m Jamie Bellinger, an independent documentary photographer based in south-west England. I’m best known for photographing protests and activist actions in the UK.
My interest in protest first began at university, when I pictured demos by the far-right EDL and their opponents in Cambridge. This soon spilled over into anti-fascist rallies in London and I photographed the tumultuous protests at London universities in late 2013. In 2019 I began to focus on climate activism, which remains my primary subject.
My picture of a Just Stop Oil protest on Park Lane in London was awarded Documentary Winner at the BPA in 2023. In January 2024 I exhibited at P21 Gallery in London, showing my images of Gaza ceasefire protests in the UK 2021–2023.
I shoot in colour, using Canon and Sony equipment. My work is not-for-profit and non-commercial. It has been featured by the Guardian, TimeOut, The Big Issue and others.
I work independently and unaffiliated with any protest group or publisher.
