I’m Jamie Bellinger, an independent documentary photographer based in south-west England. My work focuses on protest and activism, most notably extensive documentation of climate activism in Britain since 2019, political and civil liberties campaigning, and anti-war demonstrations.
I began photographing protests in around 2011, with demonstrations by the far-right ‘EDL’ and left-wing counter-demos in Cambridge. I have no formal training or education in photography, and have been self-taught (and inspired by others) ever since. Since the dawn of Extinction Rebellion in 2019, climate protest has been a major focus of my work.
In 2023, I was selected by the British Photography Awards jury as Documentary Photographer of the Year, for an image taken of a Just Stop Oil direct action protest in London.
